I just started this journey on Sunday 1/22/12. Sent out several letters including some to dispute and two PFD letters. I had a $110 bill in collections from 2008 from an old dentist. They returned the letter today agreeing to my PFD request! I am very excited about this. I have discovered that I have two items that are passed the SOL so I have disputed them with all three bureaus hoping that is all that is needed for removal??? I also have another account that is due to removed in Sept for SOL but it is an account I settled back in 09 and I have sent them a goodwill letter asking for the removal now. THey did respond to my letter by asking for more information so I am hopeful. This is the letter I used for the doctor. I think I found it here on this site actually DATE MY NAME ADDRESS RE: ACCT#/BAL DOC NAME ADDRESS Dear Sir or Madam: This letter is an offer to amicably settle the above account. It is not to be construed as an acknowledgment of any liability for this debt in any form. I will pay your company the amount of $110 as full settlement of this account. If you accept this agreement, I will send you a money order or certified cashiers check for the settlement amount of $110 in exchange for a full deletion of all references regarding this account from my credit profile and full satisfaction of the debt. This agreement is binding and will be void should you not hold up to your end of the agreement. Furthermore the debt will be deleted from my credit profile at all three credit bureaus, or the bureaus your practice regularly reports to in the course of doing business. If you agree to the above, please acknowledge with your signature and return a copy to me. Upon receipt of this signed acknowledgment, I will promptly send you a money order or cashiers check in the amount stated above. Notice: This agreement is restricted. This is not a renewed promise to pay, but rather a restricted settlement offer only. By not signing below, you agree that the debt has not been renewed nor have any written agreements been exchanged. Thank You. I look forward to resolving this matter in the best interest for both of our parties. Creditor’s Authorized Signature: _____________________ Date:_________________ Name: ______________________ Title : _______________________ I sent another PFD to a local community college. I have a balance of $418 there from 2009 or 2010 I believe. The officer manager called me today and was very pleasant but said "we don't have anything to do with reporting" and basically said she'd be happy to take a payment or give me the CA contact info to see what they can do for me. I was thinking of sending another PFD letter to the school (basically its an exact copy of the one above) and this time explaining the circumstances as to why I couldn't pay (kind of like a GW) and I was thinking of including a letter for them to forward to the credit bureaus that basically state "THIS DEBT IS NOT VALID, PLEASE REMOVE IMMEDIATELY" that they can copy on their letter head and again asking for PFD in exchange for them simply mailing these letters to the bureau. Thoughts on this?? Anyone try anything like this? I contacted the CA because I actually have 2 debts with them and they don't seem like they will budge with a PFD but I guess I could always harass them with letters until they cave?? |
