I started my credit repair journey in February. It is now June and the only thing I have really done so far is to open a secured credit card and pay it off twice a month. My credit score has risen 81 points just doing this alone. I had zero open credit before this.I am working on getting my student loans out of default, this should occur about August or September. I am hoping for another big jump when those come off of my credit report. My TU report has gone from 462 to 543 in this short time.It is still far from good, but heading in the right direction.

Great job! I'd love to know how much your score goes up when your student loan is out of default. I'm going through the same thing right now. Three more months on my rehab thingie and then all past due payments will be reported as paid as agreed!

Interested to know how this worked, with the cards? I am staying at about 20% usage, and pay off the balance in full each month before they update to the bureau. My largest jump in score was 28 points. Fantastic job in your increase...but wonder how it worked?

| I am not sure what the reason was, but this jump was for a period of 3 months, so that is about 28 points per month I guess.

Thats very good, I wonder if if worked for him because he is paying it off twice a month as opposed to mlaustin1 paying it off once a month.

| I don't think it has anything to do with paying twice a month. It is just the fact that it is getting paid off at least once a month I believe.

Great job! Thanks for sharing details - that is what many are searching for to try. Success is great, but helping others and providing them with info to try and do the same is greater! thanks!

Hey which company did you go through to get the secured credit card? I have looked online and couldn't find a good one?

I would recommend either public savings or citibanks secured credit card.I first tried Bank of America but got denied even though it was for a secured card. Instead I went with public savings. They do require a $75 activation fee, but this is offset by the fact that there is no monthly maintenance fee's, and they will guaranteed approve you since they don't even do a credit check. There are other cards out there as well, but I believe these two to be the among the best. Good luck |
