Literally a week ago today I had sent out 3 letters to each of the credit bureaus to delete 4 charge off accounts from several years back for mistakes I had made for being irresponsible. I basically sent the "7 year" letter to each bureau. While two of the charge-offs were technically not passed the 7year mark, I went ahead and disputed them as such. I would like to report that today in the mail I received a letter from Transunions stating that all 4 charge offs were deleted! This is a great day for me. The battle is still not over, as now I'm just waiting on Experian and Equifax to respond to me as well regarding these charge offs. Besides for these charge offs, I have one other negative mark which is a collection with portfolio recovery associates that I'm trying to negiotiate a pay for delete. Thanks again aaacreditguide! |

I would also like to mention that my credit score went up 62 points because of the charge offs according to myfico.com, good stuff!

For the heck of it, I also purchased my Equifax Fico Score, even though they haven't responded to me regarding the charge offs. Surprisingly, my score is 644, with the charge offs and late payments associated with those accounts still present. I'm very curious to see what happens if Equifax removes all 4 charge off accounts and all late payments associated with them. My Transunion Fico score was 654, with the charge offs removed. I'm actually kind of surprised by the Transunion score now. Besides for the charge offs, both accounts are identical. |

Would like to report that today, I got Experian to remove 1 charge off but still have 3 remaining. I found out that the 7 year rule applies from the date of first delinquency, not from the date of the account first opening. Will keep this updated when I hear back from Equifax. |

When I started this process almost two years ago, my credit scores were roughly 530-550 across the board. As of a couple of days ago, my credit scores were 663, 675 and 691! I am satisfied thus far with my progress. I know that my scores can easily get into the 700's if I can get this darn CA with Portfolio Recovery off my credit report. Thanks again to this forum and others for the help and continuous information, you guys weren't lying when you said it takes time and patience! |

Wow!!! That gives me hope. I sent 2 PFD letters out yesterday. I was wondering if you mind sharing the letters that you sent the credit bureaus.

| Well I didn't send any PFD letters to the credit bureaus, only to the CA I'm dealing with.

OK, I also have charge-off that I would like removed. What type of letter did you send to the credit bureau to get those removed. I have 4 also that's affecting my score.

| Well if the date of first delinquency is not more than 7 years ago, you'll have to send a goodwill letter to the original creditor or bank asking them to basically do you favor and report to the credit bureaus to remove it. If the date of first delinquency is more than 7 years ago, you can call the credit bureau and tell them the account should be removed immediately since it is more than 7 years old.
