Alright, I wanted to start my own thread on the journey I am taking to repair my credit reports. I found this forum towards the end of November because I was searching for a way to remove the bankruptcy from all 3 of my credit reports. I know there are nay-sayers on here that say it can't be done, but Chane says there are ways to have it removed, so I thought I would give it a try. My credit reports aren't bad, other then some old addresses and the bankruptcy that was filed and discharged back in 2001. Here is the progress I have made so far. On December 26th, I sent 2 dispute letters: 1 to Transunion and 1 to Experian asking them to remove some old addresses. There were a few P.O Boxes on both reports that were not mine and an old address on there that I haven't lived at in years, so I disputed them. On January 5th, I received an updated credit report from Transunion and all of the disputed addresses had been removed. I am still waiting to hear back from Experian. Last week, I tried pulling my credit report from Equafax, but I had problems, so they are sending me one. As soon as I receive that, I will dispute any addresses that do not belong on there. Since I succeeded with the address disputes with Transunion, I wrote up my dispute letter to have my Chapter 7 Bankruptcy removed. I used a letter I found on this site that Chane used as an example; added my information; included copies of my identification and mailed it out on Tuesday January 6th. If all goes well, I will receive a new credit report from Transunion and hopefully (I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one), my chapter 7 will be removed. I have learned a lot from this site and I hope that everything will pan out for me in the end. Wish me luck and I will make updates as they happen. |

Just wanted to forward you some information in regards to your bankruptcy. Instead of disputing with the equifax, transunion, or experian you first should dispute with a company called LexisNexus. Since your b.k.r. is considered is a public record. Dispute your bankruptcy item with them just like you would do with the credit reporting agencies. The company listed above is the biggest public records data base. So to save your self time and not paying a lawyer to do this, once they remove it then dispute through to the three credit reporting agencies.Trust me all three credit agencies will check with LexisNexus first if listed there they will not delete it for you. Thats why it is important to dispute with lexisnexus first. I been there years way back i found out through trail and error. Lawyers charge 1,500.00 to do that? You can get done yourself. Lexisnexus address is 100 S. Fifth Ave. Suite 300, Minneapolis, MN 55402. Make sure to include a copy of your drivers license, social security number and 5-10 years of previous addresses. Good luck!

You can't dispute with LN......it is near impossible. They will claim they are not a CRA. Unless things have changed that is.........but I seriously doubt it. |
