My school is refusing to release my financial aid

...because I filed bankruptcy! Even though Salli Mae sent them the money and everything is fine my University will not apply the monies to my account and wants me to 1- pay them what is owed or provide them the discharge papers now showing that my loans are not included.

I told them that the loans arent included since thats what my lawyer and the bankruptcy court has stated and they still are being jerks about it. I dont know what to do :crying::cursing::crying:

I'm sorry.... I'm just not too familiar w/SLs..
Can you just show them your discharge papers? or provide them with copies?

ETA: Ah.... I just saw your other post regarding this...
My advice would be to contact your bk atty and explain this situation and see if he will give you any type of paperwork proving that the SL was NOT included in the bk.

There has got to be a way for them to get this info.

i have not been discharged just yet and my lawyer has tried to help but the school refuses to speak with him. At this point they have taken away my financial aid and want me to pay them the balance owed in full ASAP. More like now instead of asap. This is after I sent them my schedule F. They "suddenly" realized they made a mistake in my award package and took all of my aid away.

My family thinks that they did this because of the bankruptcy. They are claiming they did not and told me i did not provide the school with documentation at the beginning of the year. However, the documentation they are referring to is my transcripts and you cant be accepted into a school without providing them let alone awarded a financial aid packet- never mind the fact that i travel to the school when i had pneumonia to hand deliver ALL of my official and unofficial transcripts.


If i end up owing this school tuition after i have all ready filed bankruptcy for their "mistake" I will be so upset. this whole situation is upsetting especially since im not being denied my aid because of my credit! :crying::cursing::thumbdown:
