Has anyone ever dealt with them? I had a student loan with them that was discharged as bad debt even though I was making monthly payments to them. I almost had it paid off, only owe $240. I have been trying to work with them for a year to get it removed from my credit report before paying the remaining balance. I want someone that shows better than a paid charge off.... Any other suggestions?

![]() I hate seeing a post go unanswered but I honestly don't know. SLs are very difficult when it comes to getting them to change notations on your CRs.....unless they made the mistake. I would say you're doing the best thing. Keep talking to them to see if there is any way they will work with you and change the status so that it reports positively. And......then of course you can always just keep disputing it in hopes that you may be able to get it either changed or deleted. Sorry I didn't have any better advice for you... |

I have an account with wama that i have a letter accepting a deal for payment.Which means that they accepted my program.go forward 6 months of payments in good standing. They charge off then sell to Chase. The charge off to me is in violation of the letter they sent.I believe its a breach of contract. Now i'm trying to decide if i should sue.My thought is they should have kept accepting the payment,no reason to charge off.Any thoughts?

Thanks for answering the post, Trish. I will try to find someone higher up in the company to write to, maybe that wil help. There is something weird I remembered after I sent the first gw letter last year. They said they wouldn't do anything to help me but to keep making payments to them. That seemed weird to me because I thought once it was charged off it went to a collection agency. I have received notices from two collection agencies regarding this but neither one as properly validated the debt. I keep getting the same letter from UOP. I just read online where they lost a big lawsuit so I will do some more research and go from there.

If you are still making payments to the OC, just ignore the CAs........if they get really annoying you can just send them a full C&D telling them you will ONLY deal with the OC. What letter are you getting from UOP? And yes....finding someone higher up might work.. I can also look around just to see if anyone has ever had any luck with UOP. I will let you know if I find out anything interesting. ![]() Good luck! |

No, I haven't made payments to them since the account was charged off. I only owed $240 and I have been willing to pay but I want to get it off my credit report. I keep getting a letter from the same person in their collection office who just isn't willing to work with me. I haven't had a chance to write a different letter to someone higher up. I did find out they lost a $75 million dollar lawsuit.... I will have to do some more research but they just said they would only mark it paid charge off... I don't think they have actually sold the account to a CA.
