Default capitalized interest

I had a private non-subsidized student loan serviced by Sallie Mae, in short, the loan was only for 5,000.00 but the interest was not forgiven as done with subsidized loans so my credit report shows I have an installment loan account for about 6,500 hundered which includes the capitalized interest after I was no longer in school. 2 questions...

1. Is there anything that can be done besdies refinancing in order to correct how this appears on my credit report? letter, etc?

2. Sallie Mae included the capitalized interest 6 months after "last date of attendance" which they claim was in the spring of 2005 making my first payment due roughly 6 months after which was in November 2005. Issue is that I was still in school during the Fall of 2005 although I was only enrolled in one class (5.5 credits / this is a trimester school, not semester)

help please

I doubt any of the CRAs will change it if you contact them directly. You would have to get Sallie Mae to do it and that could mean hours of pure hell.
