Default How long do they stay on your report?

How long do student loans stay on your report? I disputed a student loan that is paid and closed and was opened in 08/1998 and EQ just put it back on my report today or that's what True Credit shows...that it was added. It had been on but I disputed it. What do I do now?

I agree with jj. If it's in good standing you definitely want it to stay on there.

If it's showing some lates, then possibly a goodwill letter is in order.
If it's a derog, then it should only stay on for 7 years.

The student loan shows 1 60 day late from like 2002 on TU and EX. It's paid in full though. Do I still send a good will letter and if so where can I get one or what do I put in it? Thanks so much for all your help.

I would send a goodwill letter to who put it on.Just word like you had been through a bad spot in your life and ask them to please consider removing the late because of the date and you were only late one time. (don't tell the reason was because you beat up a person that reported you late one time)lol:D

How do I find out who put it on? I mean I know TL it is, but I don't know the exact name of a person from there. Do I need a name? AND if I do how do I find the name of the person? Thanks JJ!!! And by the way one kick isn't really considered "beating them up" is it? LOL

No it's simple battery so it's not a felony. You can ask in your letter because your disputing the tradeline and someone had to put it on.

If it's Sallie Mae a goodwill letter is pretty much a waste of time. If it's someone else, give it a shot!
