Default Should I satisfy a judgement or wait it out?

Hi,

In 2003, I lost my job and was evicted from an apartment. The creditor placed 2 judgements on my TU report for the eviction. I spoke to the court and they are able to provide the "certificate of satisfaction". According to TU's report, my judgements should drop off in 2010. I'm at lost to whether I should send the certificate or wait for judgements to drop off the report. Does the clock restart again if I send in the "certificate of satisfaction" to the credit bureau?

Thanks,
Joel

A satisfied judgment is still considered negative and can effect your scores negatively. If you send in the certificate of satisfaction, you provide them proof that it belongs on your credit report and that would not be wise.

Waiting for it to fall off is not a great option either. Start here and read everything in this forum:

Chane,

Thanks for the response and helping a newbie! I have read the posts in the forum that you posted a link to but I still have some questions.

1. If waiting for the judgement is not a good option. What would you suggest I should do? Each judgement has a docket associated with it and TU reports liability of $0.00. The court has validated that each docket is valid but no $$$ owed.

2. Can the creditor have 2 judgements for the same debt? Both filed in the same month/year.

3. Along with the judgement, the OC has reported a negative entry which shows closed but showing a high balance amount and there has been no activity since 2003. Should I dispute the entry?

TIA
Joel
