Thumbs up Problem with old , LANLORD.!

I need some advice in this problem:
in the year 2004 , i co-rented an apartment with my wife , we couldnt pay it and , the landlord at that time took us to court for a remaining balance of $1200+ dollars. before the court appearance date we give up the apartment , and paid off the debt with the landlord.
I have a letter from the landlord that states: "....your legal obligation on monies on *********** apartment has been paid and no other monies are due. I have notified the district judges that all payments on case # ************* has been paid "

the problem is that the landlord never report to the magistrate of the payment.
Why did i wait till this year (2008), to find out?.. in the year 2001 i got into debt with a credit-card co , and with a cell-phone co , i never pay that debt , I was waiting for the seven years period to be remove from my credit history, but not , is still appear in my history ,.... going back with the story of the landlord , when i apply for new credit a couple weeks ago , i find out that i was reported to equifax and other companies for my unpaid monies of $1200+ dollars (which we paid off , the only proof is the letter) Now after learning of this , I did contact the landlord and informed him of this situation two weeks ago he responed to me that he would check his books and call me back ..(didnt do it) instead i call him yesterday and ask him , what is his position in this matter which he responed that i still own him $300 dollars , i reply that was not correct and informed him about the letter singed by him , he told me to fax it , which i did , i wait for his return call yesterday and today but nothing.

Any help in this situation .? Can people go and F your credit and nothing happend?

Thank's GOD i found it.!!! @ to the Creator of this site. CHANE...!!!!! UP...!!!!:):):):):)

If this were me, I would keep hounding the landlord. You have it IN WRITING.
So.....if he continues to deny it, you may have to take him to court.
Then, you can turn around and sue him.

If you have debts reporting that are over 7 years old (7 years from the date of first delinquency) then dispute them as obsolete. They should drop fairly easily.
