Default Status: Derogatory, but it's paid?

Hello,

I have been viewing anonymously for a few months, and this site has really helped me with all the existing topics. So, with that out of the way, thanks to the entire community for being so awesome!

However, now I've come across an issue on my credit that I haven't found any information on.

There is a collections account that was paid within a month of being opened back in 2007 that is still reporting Status: Derogatory. However, in the comments of the account it says "Paid Collection". The company that left it this way told me it makes no difference as long as the comment says "Paid collection"

It seems with some of my other collection accounts they changed them to "Paid" after it was paid off.. I wanted to make sure that this information is correct, and that this account hasn't been bringing my credit down for the last 3 years.

Thanks in advance!

Any type of collection account on your credit report is negative; whether it is paid or not. The best thing you can do is get it removed.
