Default Applying for a CC from bank you got CO from

This might sound like a stupid question but if theortically speaking, one were to apply for a CC from a bank he/she defaulted on, would the bank automatically turn the applicant down? Is there a way for their "system" to check if this person already had an account established with the bank in the past?

Thoughts?

Friendly bump to the top.

I might just go for it, the worst that could happen is a single hard inquiry that might hit my credit score for 2 points. I haven't had any hard inquiries since March of 09.

Cool

I always wondered what would happen if you did apply back to a bank or a loan that you have had a closed account with!

I'm curious about this too. I had a capital one cc over 10 years ago that I defaulted on. I was thinking about applying for an auto loan from them, If I can't get an approval from penfed. They won't see the old credit card on my report, but is it still in their database lingering somewhere?

Actually I did! And they approved my card and the information on my old account wasn"t available they showed that my account was in good standings even though I know I owed them! :D

But I do believe that after a certain amount of time the information has been purged off of your account! The one thing I did do before I applyed was call and see what information they had on me!

Good luck!
