Okay, long story short I have two credit accounts that were with HSBC. They were charged off a few years ago but I continued to make payments to them after that. I didn't know any better at the time. :o I have disputed this over the last few years with the CR's and it always comes back verified. I have sent letters to HSBC (not debt verification letters) but they always state I need to contact the collection agency the accounts were sold to. The collection agency no longer has them in their possession as I am sure they are being sold from one junk debt buyer to another. I have received various letters over the years from different CA's but none have been able to properly validate the debt. Is my next step to send HSBC a debt verification letter for each account I had with them? I know some people mentioned they have had success with them. Thanks |

Who is reporting this on your CRs? I'm sure HSBC is reporting the CO but are there any CAs reporting the acct as well? If so dispute those (how ever many there are) and see which one (if any) sticks....then go after them for validation. As far as getting the CO from HSBC removed... if they are reporting anything inaccurately then yes, you can send them a debt verification letter... but you need to be specific (as to what's incorrect) or you will more than likely get the run around. If they still refuse to report it correctly, then you can file complaints. If they are reporting things correctly...... then you just have to keep hammering away at the disputes in hopes that it will get deleted. Hopefully that helps some.. |
