Default Chargeoff/Judgment/Collections

Hello all! Reading this forum has been super informative & helpful, but I'm still a bit confused as to how I should proceed with my credit repair. Unfortunately, I believe I made some mistakes in attempting to fix my credit BEFORE finding this forum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

1. Charge Off:
Credit card - $1000 (1st Deliq 08/2006) Paid in full to collections agency late 2009, but this still has not been reported to credit bureaus. I have paid in full letter that I can submit. Will this stay on my report 7 yrs from 1st deliq or from when I paid? Any way to get this off my credit report otherwise?

2. Judgment / Public Record:
State loan - $1200 (2006) Paid in full late 2009 - reported now as paid and closed, but still listed as judgment/public record. Do I just have to wait this out for another 7 years?

3. Collections:
Medical bills - $39 & $37 from 2006. I was thinking the best course would be a "Pay for Delete". If I contact the collection agency, does this "reset the clock" in case they don't delete it?

Again, any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Welovecookies Welcome

Ok..so..
1. Did you enter into an agreement or make payment arrangements with the CA?
Do you know if the CA was collecting on behalf of the OC? or was the acct sold over to CA?

How is the OC reporting? still showing an amount due? charge off - $0 balance?

2. Read here....
Guide To Disputing/Removing Judgments
Depending on your state, judgments can be reported for 10 or more years... but that doesn't mean you should try to dispute and get them off.

3. Why not try the HIPAA process? Then the CA has no right to report it at all.

Hi Trish! Thanks for such a quick & helpful response.

1. Just paid it outright, no payment arrangement. I believe that the account was sold over to CA because I was directed to them by the OC.

It is still being reported as charge off with balance of $1000.

2. Re: Judgment. Will that method work even though I recently paid the judgment in full? Actually, I forgot to mention that after I paid the student loan, it got added in as a "Paid & Closed account" in addition to the judgment section. They showed a history from 1995-2009 with (1) 120 day deliquency.

3. So the HIPAA process should be able to remove the collections of my report entirely after I pay them? I sure hope that works!!!!

Thanks for sharing your insight!!!

1. Well, the charge off should be reporting a zero balance for one. If it was written off and sold to a CA, there should be NO balance showing. If that's the case then you should definitely dispute that. The OC can only report it 7 years from the DOFD. So sounds like that will be scheduled to come off 2013.
Is the CA you paid reporting this on your CR?

2. Yes, the letters and method in disputing a judgment should still work on a paid judgment. The thing is, the CRAs tell you the courts are reporting it but that's not always so..... I would definitely dispute/challenge that. Now the loan (if it's being reported in negative accts of your CRs) will probably be harder to remove....but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Dispute it as well... you never know until you try.

3.Yes, the HIPAA process has worked for TONS of people.. me included. And that way, you are paying the healthcare provider......NOT the CA.

yw.. and good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions.
