Default Experian determined my request not sent by me

Great site!

I haven't found anything about this in my searches but I wanted to report that I sent out dispute letters to Experian, TransUnion and Equifax about 3 weeks ago. I used the purple, italic ink and this is what came back so far from Experian:
Quote:
We received a suspicious request regarding your personal credit information that we have determined was not sent by you. This could be deemed as deceptive or fraudulent use of your information. We have not taken any action on this request. Any future requests made in this manner will not be processed and will not receive a response. Suspicious requests are taken seriously and reviewed by Experian security personnel who will report deceptive activity, including copies of letters deemed as suspicious, to law enforcement officials and to state or federal regulatory agencies.
I even sent a copy of a utility bill, social security card and check stub.

Anyway, I resent the request, hand-written, and assured them it was me. I was sure to include new copies of my information, etc.

Has anyone else run across this situation? Should the "purple, italic ink" suggestion be wrong? I haven't heard from TransUnion or Equifax yet.

I got the same response from them this past December. It seems that they get so many disputes and it is there way of not doing any work.

I guess it's a technique to buy more time while they investigate. :D

With above reply that dispute is dead. You will have to start a new dispute.

I just got this from experian today.

The idiots even spelled my name wrong while addressing me. I have no idea which dispute this is regarding though, I have sent several to them in the last couple of weeks...

Several disputes in the last couple of weeks? That's going to not only confuse you......but it will definitely confuse the CRAs. Not saying that's why you got that letter.. but at the very least they are going to extend your investigations to 45 days saying that you sent them additional info (even if the dispute was for a different acct)... OR they could flag you as "frivolous" which you definitely don't want.

For future disputes, always send one (you can dispute 3 or 4 items in one letter) and then wait the full 30 days (plus give 5 days for mail time) to get your results before you submit another dispute.
I would chill on disputing for a while. Make sure you have gotten ALL of your results before you send out any more.

My mistake, should have clarified, several credit related disputes on the same letter and one for personal information. But thanks for the tip! I will relax on disputing for awhile, I know I have to be patient but I really want to take care of these things...

OH... then you should be ok. I misunderstood. They usually send all the results together in one letter.. so that is confusing...

Then again, I think the people at EX are smokin crack.. :glare: they have been THE most difficult CRA to deal with..

I do personal info disputes online which the items are usually off the next business day. All my TL disputes are done USPS and I found to be most inportant to keep everything. Disputing does take time.

That's what I did the same day the letter arrived from Experian. I re-wrote the letter by hand and made another copy of my driver's license, social security card and utility bill.

This Friday is 30+5. I can't wait to see what Equifax and TransUnion say.
