Way Past SOL
Hi all, I have a question that may be someone can shed some light on. Last night I received a letter from PRA stating I owe around 660.00 to Verizon Wireless. Never have I had a Verizon phone, but the account number reminds me of a cell number I had with another company that I used back in 95 through 97. It been a very long time and I cant be sure. I was a stupid kid back then so it might be possible that this could be that account an that I did not pay it. I can't remember.
My question is how does the SOL play in to this. I have worked hard to get an excellent FICO score and want to keep it. Obviously, this is way past SOL but can they still hit my credit report with this. There has been nothing on my CR regarding this. They state I can settle for 260.00. I am tempted to just to protect my score but do not want to because it might not be mine.
Do I send a DV letter? A C&D based on SOL? If I send either, what can they do to my CR?
Thanks for any insight.
