Default credit monitoring service

what credit monitoring service do you guys recommend??

I am unsure if I am going to use one though since you can always log in after a dispute and check dispute status and print a new report. I suppose it is good if you want to see your score changing and what progress is going on.

Just curious to the best ones that are out there

I used to use TrueCredit but dropped them because they pissed me off... they locked me out for excessive pulls (um.. they allow daily pulls...but don't like it when you pull every day. ).... now granted that was like 2 years ago, so I don't know if they've lightened up or not. Otherwise I really liked the service.
I currently use CreditSecure through Amex... not sure if that's available for people without an Amex card... but it's only like $11.95/mo and you can pull your reports and scores every day.

Also, here's a link that another member posted a while back with a list of monitoring companies and their benefits...

I have used true credit and I really like the layout of their site. It highlights any changes that have been made to your daily transunion report. It also provides a free 3 bureau report once a month. The "Vantagescore" system is now used(501-990). I think its 14.95 a month.

I just signed up for CreditCheck Total. It says "SAFEGUARDS your credit with unlimited 3-Bureau Credit Reports & Scores for paid members." I am still in my free trial and it will not let you do daily pulls until you are a paying member. The 3 bureau daily pulls are important to me though, I like to know exactly when something falls off or gets added or changed CL increase and so on as soon as it happens. As far as I know this is the only site still offering daily 3 bureau pulls unless you have an Amex card. The layout is a bit harder to read but worth it i guess for the daily pulls. You also get your 3 "PLUS" scores with your reports(350 to 850 I think). It's 22.95 a month.

I don't really care for freecreditreport.com. It's 14.95 a month. It does offer daily pulls of your Experian credit report and Experian score but not much after that. If you want to see your other two reports you have to pay 24.95 on top of your monthly fee. What a ripoff.

You are also entitled to 1 free credit report from each of the 3 bureaus once a year through annualcreditreport.com. Someone could start with that, then dispute, and when the bureaus send an updated copy of your credit report use it to dispute again. You would never have to pay for a service if you didn't feel the need to constantly check on your reports.

I am currently using Identity Guard myself. But they don't allow me to pull daily. I got the 30 day trial, I can't pull my next report for 120 days, then quarterly after that, unless I want to pay for reports. They allow me to view the current CR as often as I like, but not pull new ones. They do offer many features which I like though and I will probably keep them for now. I might give True Credit a look though

Hmm... I was about to sign dh up for Identity Guard. thought you could get daily pulls. :glare: bummer.
I have really loved Credit Secure but their new "software" has caused my dh's reports to become locked and no one seems to know how to fix the glitch.. it's very frustrating. I have spent HOURS on the phone with several different reps.....So I was going to just go to someone else.
If they can't fix the problem soon, I'm going to have to. Ugh.

Trish,
Identity Guard hides the fact that you don't get daily pulls, from reading their webpage it appears that you do, but if you read it very carefully, all they are saying is that you get unlimited access to the current pull. After I joined I phoned them and asked, they told me that I get the first one, then I get another 1 120 days later, then quarterly after that. I guess they added my 1 free month to the first one is how they came up with the 120 days. It really is the only feature I don't like about their service. Well there is one other thing I don't care much for, when there is activity on your report in any area, you get a notice saying there was activity, but they don't tell you what it is, only which CB and who accessed reported. You get this notice even when a TL is updated, such as in my case, when the balance on an item goes down and it is reported to them. I had to call the people who showed up as activity to find out what was going on and why they were showing as accessing my report. The scores never dropped the 3 times it happened. The other day, I got an activity report about an old address, but it didn't say if it was taken off or what. Kind of confusing.
