Hi, I'm new to the site and need some helpful advice. I recently recieved a letter from a collection agency responding to my request to validate a medical bill. I received the validation response yesterday and the information sent to me by the collection agency includes personal information, diagnosis, and treatment procedures. Did the hospital violate HIPPA laws and my privacy by providing them with my medical diagnosis, and treatment procedure involved?

If you sent them a DV requesting validation.....you pretty much gave them permission to access your records from the OC. So, no.....they did not violate any HIPAA laws. As long as you have not paid the CA, you can still use the HIPAA method to have it removed (if it is being reported on your CRs) |

Trish, thanks for the feedback... another question or questions, I noticed on the information sent to me by the CA the deliquent date listed on my equifax report is 9/4/2003 and the surgey date listed on the itemized information sent by the CA is 9/4/2003.. I don't think I could have surgery and be deliquent on the same day ... LOL so can I use this to my advantage with Equifax or will they just correct the date and move on?
