Default Date of last Activity Vs Date opened

Hello everyone. In the past i was successful at removing some negative accounts from my account. I have an old Nextel bill that was given to a collection company Afni. My credit report shows DATE OF LAST ACTIVITY 3/2003 but then it says Date opened 7/2006.

I am trying well will try in a few months to get that account taken off my report since it has been 7 years since i was delicuent, but i am a little confused as to it saying date opened in 2006. My Experian Report, does say it is scheduled to remain on my report til 4/2010. The other 2 do not say anything, so i am nto sure if i will even have to do anything, or if they will automatically drop it in 4/10 like experian says it will do. If not, i i will try to dispute with them, but i am assuming that the date that counts is the date of last activity 2/03 or am i incorrect, why are the reporting a date open of 7/06?

thanks in advance for any help

Date of last activity is the reporting of some action or inaction by YOU on an account. Your last payment, your last delinquency, your dispute of credit reporting, are examples. Creditor do NOT directly report an item called a DOLA. DOLAs take many flavors. For example, your DOFD,at the time it occurs, will probably be your DOLA, but later derogs, payments, etc. can reset the DOLA, but not the DOFD.

Date opened, as it pertains to a collection, is the date of assignment of the collection to the debt collector. Again, it does not have any relationship to the DOLA and does not reset the DOFD.
