Default Just starting out

Hey everyone. Me and my wife are just starting out on our own credit repair. We have previously paid for a credit repair company to help us. They seem to have helped a little bit be but really didnt see our credit score go up much. We were paying 160 a month for them to help. Now we are looking to do the rest on our own. I have read alot of the threads today and have gotten alot of ideas on how to get started. I have opted out already and tomorrow I will be calling the CRA's to delete all of my previous personal information. What should we do next? I have a copy of both of our credit reports from equifax credit monit from 10/2009. Should we request new ones? Or can we work with the ones we have. I had a mortgage broker pull our credit reports the other day and the FICO score was much lower on his report than on the reports that we have. Can your FICO score change by what company pulls it. I also found out that I have 4 medical bills that are all under 300 each that went to collections last year. I called them and they said that once they are paid that they will remove them from my credit report. I ask for that in writting and they said they dont do that but that I could have the mortgage company fax a BORROWS AUTHORIZATION FORM to them and they would say that they were removing it. What should I do and will paying all 4 of them off help my credit score alot or just a little?
