Does anyone know if each of the CRAs should have the same account listed differently? I have two credit cards that were charged off and then sold to CAs. TU has them listed as Paid:Collection/Charge Off, Experian has them listed as Transferred:Collection/Charge Off, and Equifax has them listed as Derogatory:Collection/Charge Off. I wasn't sure if each one had a different standard for listing these accounts or if I would be able to dispute with Equifax and Experian and have them changed to paid. I know it's still a Charge Off, but I think that it would help if it was listed as paid regardless, instead of Derogatory?? Any help would be appreciated!

derogatory will lower your credit score just a few more points than a chargeoff/collection but no major difference score wise. If you issue a pfd letter to the ca then maybe you can get your paid status but doesn't matter unless its deleted your credit score will remain damaged.

if there listed twice on each report, try a dispute letter. if there sold to ca that should get rid of the oc listing... hell i'd still try it can't hurt, you never know

Did u pay the account when it went to collection agency? If not, the "paid" status is not accurate. However, I agree with prior posts that whether it says paid or otherwise is pretty much irrlevant. What hurts your score is the fact it's a charge off and sent to collections. Finally, I have to politely disagree with Ca RIP's comment that if a CA is reporting it should cause OC tradeline to fall off. OC and CA can both report. OC reports account as charged off and then CA reports it's current status with them. |

thanks for the tips. I was sending DV letters to all the CAs but at first didn't realize that I could send them to the OC as well. I sent a couple to OCs who did NOT sell the accounts, and didn't send them to the OCs who were reporting them as "paid" or "transferred" and reporting zero balances bc they sold the account. My question now is, should I bother sending DV letters to OCs who sold the accounts, or should I skip that and just dispute them with the CRAs first? thanks for the help!
