My wife has a paid medical collection on her credit report. She paid the CA. I thought I read somewhere that this could be removed via the HIPAA process, but I read in another place that you can only use HIPAA if you paid the OC. Is that correct, i.e., are we barred from using the HIPAA process to remove this entry because we paid the CA? If so, is there any other way to remove this paid collection other than writing the CA and asking them to remove it? The service was provided in January of 2008. The full amount due was paid in October of 2008. The CA is Nationwide Credit Corp. Thank you in advance for your help. |

You are correct in the fact that you cannot use the HIPAA method if you paid the CA. Only other way to get it removed since it is already been paid is by disputing with the CRAs and/or contacting the CA directly. I have been able to get a paid CA acct off by just basically hounding the CA and annoying the hell out of them with phone calls and letters. |
