Default Help, CRA verified false information!

I need help. I've been successful at cleaning up my credit file thus far. I recently sent a dispute letter to Equifax regarding an account that I believed is outside of SOL in Colorado (I had received calls from Collection Agency back in 8/2006 and told it had been charged off) SOL in CO is 3 years.

Anyway, Equifax sent a letter stating the account was verified that it belongs to me and obtained additional information from the original creditor, Chase Bank. The problem is that the additional information is very inaccurate. It states the date of last payment was 8/2009 which is completely false. It claims the chargeoff date is 10/2007 (which would place it within SOL still convenient for them!), yet I was receiving calls back in 8/06 to 10/06 stating it was charged off.

So my question is "what now?" If Chase is saying this is still within SOL, they'll probably try to sue me. One option is to wait until 5/2010 and handle it then when it will for sure be outside of SOL. Or I could contact Chase directly and request investigation to prove that I made a payment in 8/09 (which they won't be able to prove). Any ideas?

Do you have ANY paperwork (or any older CRs) that show the CO date of 2006?
If Chase is truly doing this then that is re-aging the acct and it is illegal.
You would need to be able to provide some sort of proof to back yourself up though.... (just by chance it did go to court, you would need to be prepared)
If that is what they are doing, I would contact Chase, send them a verification letter and let them know that they have verified false information with the CRAs and are reporting it incorrectly....

Good luck and keep us posted!
