I sent in a dispute letter to EX and got a response letter from EX that was really weird and im not quite sure how to respond. Here is what the letter says: we have received a suspicious request regarding your personal credit information that we have determined was not sent by you. This could be deemed as deceptive or fraudulent use of information. We have not taken any action on this request. Any future request made in his manner will not be processed and will not receive a response. then it just goes on to say the standard stuff. What do you guys think i should do? it has not been 30days since i sent my letter in. |

I got the same letter and when I called they said they "thought someone else sent it and were protecting my file". BS!!!! I filed a complaint with the FTC. It doesn't help me directly, but if enough people file complaints then you never know what may happen |

Nope. I sent in a new dispute letter along with a copy of my complaint to the FTC and it hasn't been 30 days yet. I am still waiting. Will update when I get the results.

| If you filed an FTC complaint, you should print a copy of the complaint (or email confirmation) and send that along with another dispute or demand for deletion... Simply filing an FTC complaint (unfortunately) does no good until the FTC has reached a certain amount of complaints from consumers regarding the same issue. By sending a copy and redispute, ....IF they resolve your issue, then that complaint goes away....making the number of complaints less for them. ...so it may give EX some incentive to take care of it. |

I have to laugh...I got the same verbatum letter. I had a mortgage that was sold and ending up with 3 inquiries? GMAC sold the loan and I think the inquiries hurt me. I belong to their credit watch and I finally got a hold of a live person and I think I'll get a good response since I pay them monthly to watch my credit. I'm not happy about this. I'll let you know what happens? on Monday. |

This is actually not that weird for EX. EX is well known for doing things like this. They love stall tactics on disputes. EX routinely sends responses to disputes like this. It's very common to get this "suspicious request" letter. They also are known to ask for ridiculous documents to prove your identity (documents which no sane person should send through the mail). They are even known to send letters back to people, asking for them to verify their identity and verify their address. It doesn't make one darn bit of sense. Why send a letter to verify the address... to that very address? I would personally send a letter to them, saying that the request did in fact come from you, and you would like for them to proceed with the dispute. This is really common for EX and this is what most people do in response. Good luck! |
