Below is a summary of a negative item on my equifax report (national grid) Besides the fact they agreed to remove charge offs from my report and failed to do so, they don't list dofd or dmdfr. I have been doing the equifax dispute online about once a month hoping that they just get sick of me and delete it, but I am wondering if someone can help me go about this differently. Are they even allowed to report without the dofd or dmdfr and how am I suppose to tell when this is slated to come off of my report? As well the months reviewed says 30 but it shows payment history since 2005? Thanks in advance any help is appreciated. Current Status: PAYS AS AGREED Account Owner: Individual Account. Interesting. It's reporting "pays as agreed" but I'm assuming it's listed under your negative accts, right? Usually the DOLA and the DOFD are the same, but not always. If you don't think the DOLA (8/2006) is accurate and you don't have it in your records, you can always call up the CRA and ask them for the DOFD/FCRA compliance date. It appears as though this would be scheduled to come off in 8/2013. You said they agreed to remove this from your reports? Did you by chance get that in writing? That's what I would be working on.. bugging the hell out of the company to take it off. |

Unfortunately I did not get it in writing but they removed it from experian and transunion after I disputed. I do not know why they are sticking it to me on equifax. I am in New York, you stated it appears to come off in 8/2013, am I wrong assuming that since it is paid that it comes off in five years rather than seven? Or is that just collections? It is indeed listed under "negative accounts" and reports paid as agreed. They show 81 month history for the account where it was charged off, paid, delinquent at times all the way to the current month. I suppose a question I have is: The account is listed as closed but they keep reporting it all the way to this current month, I am moving soon and need to setup electric service, is that going to re-open this account or effect it in some adverse way that I am not seeing? Should I get this settled before I re-establish service/re-open the account? |

You are correct... in NY the reporting period on a debt is 5 once it's paid (which is nice). I believe it's on any debt....not just collections. Hmm.. about moving... if you are staying with the same utility company, I'm not sure. I would call up and talk to them about this. It may be opening a completely different/new acct since it's a different residence. And then while you're at it.....see if you can talk to a manager about it not coming off of EQ.. explain that you were promised it would come off and that last one is sticking for some reason. If you are polite but persistent, they may be willing to work with you. Also.... how have you disputed it? If it was online.... things get verified much easier when it's all computerized. You may want to try writing in your dispute in handwriting via certified mail. By hand writing it, it cannot be scanned by the computer system and an actual person has to handle your dispute. |

thank you very much for your help ![]() I believe you have a good point about hand writing my dispute instead of online. It seems they probably do just run it through a program instead of reading the details box where I write each time stating that, this item was to be expunged from my record in exchange for the payment I made to them. Not to mention an overall bigger pain in the butt for them each time I write, ha. |

After getting back into this and writing letters, I noticed that the negative item on equifax shows: "Customer Correspondence C3 300 Erie Blvd W Syracuse,NY 13202-4201 (800) 443-1837" It was a while ago that I started this and the company reporting was NCO financial, I am now thinking that National grid originally reported this item and then NCO also reported it. I have no idea how to go about negotiating with National Grid on this as I was unaware they had reported it as well. The collection agency was paid and removed their marks, but National grid's remains. I am kind of hoping that by sending letters of dispute to equifax they end up just deleting it, but so far National grid is the only thing out of about 15 and 3 bureaus that remains regardless of how many disputes I have started. |
