Default Purchasing Credit Reports

Hello everyone! This is a wonderful site. Filled with much helpful information.I am a very green newbie to credit repair. From reading the intro threads it seems I have already screwed up by having a client order the free annual credit reports. Can we back up and purchase them online to avoid giving the CRA's an extra 15 days to respond to disputes? If so which site is recommended? If my client has no credit card to pay can I use mine?

It's a good idea to purchase your initial report directly from the CRAs. Then when you do disputes, use the report number from the purchased CRs (just keep the free reports for your records and don't use them to dispute with).

Also don't forget.....every time you dispute, request an updated report for your records and then that way you will have a new report with a new number for your next round of disputes.

Just curious...
what do you mean by "client"? Have you hired someone to repair your credit?

When I say client I am reffering to someone who is interested in buying a home but has credit issues.

Oh, yes... you should be able to use your card to purchase their reports.

Trish

I am glad this topic came up because I had sent you a somewhat similar question via private message but I have not gotten a reply.

I am helping a friend with her credit repair and she has not been able to obtain her reports from 2 of the CRAs. They keep telling her they can't confirm she is who she says she is. The problem is that she has moved a lot in the last year or so and really doesn't have a drivers license or utility bill that matches her current address. As far as her drivers license goes, she just hasn't gone through the PITA process of updating it and she has no utility bills because her landlord pays for the utilities. She gave a copy of her lease agreement and a cell phone bill. I don't think these will work either because the lease, I guess, could be anybodys and the cell phone bill is from Boost Mobile which only provides email bills, so the online statement doesn't show an address.

She is trying to get a free report, despite my recommendation. Do you think they will be less demanding if she tries to get a paid one? If not, what suggestions do u have for getting a report so she can be on her way to restoring her credit?

Looking forward to your reply.

Scorepro, I did send you a reply..
I checked my sent items and it says the PM was sent at 10:53am yesterday. I just sent it again to make sure..
Please check your inbox and let me know if you still don't receive it.

I had suggested maybe using a pay stub since that shows ss# and address. She will have to provide a SS card or some proof of her social. Also a lease agreement with her name on it showing the address should work. She could also try calling the cell phone company and see if they will provide her with a paper statement that includes her address.

Thanks for the reply. Your prior message might have gone into my spam. I will check and add you to my safe sender list.

Thanks for the suggestions. Do you think she will have an easier time if she tries to get a paid report versus a free one? Or, do you think the standard of proof will be the same?

Ok....lol now I'm really confused.
Are you checking your private messages on this board (top right corner)? There isn't a spam folder for PMs.

The standard requirement for proof of ID will be the same regardless if it's paid or free.
