I will be paying my OC tomorrow for a medical bill that is in collections only on Experian. I've already tried to dispute it and they did confirm. I will be paying the OC with certified funds tomorrow morning in person and I will be recieving a receipt from them also I also will be making sure that the OC will be the only one cashing the check so they won't be forwarding it to the CA. I also think that if they give me a receipt in the OC's name it would show that they'll be cashing it as well. My question to you is what next? Should I continue with the HIPAA letter ASAP becauce I know that by giving me a receipt thay acknowledge recieving the funds and how does the process work when they actually give you what you need in person. I really need the collection removed from my Experian report so what next? I plan on paying first thing in the morning and I really need to know what you recommend next. |

I really recommend doing this by mail and not in person. You can........but I think you're results will be better by mail. The letter and payment are usually sent together to HIPAA compliance officer (is that who you will be paying in person?) |

Ok, then you need to send your HIPAA letter now. Be sure to send it CMRR to the HIPAA compliance officer of the OC.......and you can just put a copy of your payment in with the letter (in case it hasn't gone through their system/been cashed yet). Then once you know the MO/check has been cashed, you send the follow up letters posted on why chat's site. |

I sent the HIPAA letter to the compliance officer separate from payment but it seems their practice is to pay the CA from the funds you send them. Do I still have hope that the process will work and what advice can you give me? Please not that I EA the back of the check. I live in MD and I hope I'm protected using EA here. |

Ok good. Then go back to why chat's site and down towards the bottom and read "INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOLLOW UP TO "HIPAA" LETTER TO ORIGINAL CREDITOR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER" Make sure your check/MO has been deposited or cashed and then send the follow up letter to the CRAs and then also a copy of that letter along with the cover letter to the OC/healthcare provider (to the HIPAA compliance officer). |

I checked with my bank and found out the OC has deposited the funds. Remember that I was the guy who went directly to the OC's offices and made payment in full and mailed the HIPAA letter seperately to their HIPAA office. I sent the letter to the CRA today as well as the follow up letter to the OC with a copy of the letter I sent to the CRA. What chance do you think I have in getting the collection removed knowing what you know about my situation in particular? Also in your opinion what percentage of the people you've heard about get them removed. This is important to me because I really want this off because I have a new baby and I want to buy a home soon

I would say your chances are good since you used the HIPAA program. I don't know exact percentages but I have seen SO many successes with people using this method. The majority of the people that I have read complaining that it didn't work did not follow the program correctly. Others that actually did follow it correctly that had problems ended up filing HIPAA complaints and it did eventually work but just took a long time. I know the waiting is driving you nuts.....so try to hang in there. I'm confident this will work out for you. |
