Default Charge offs

I am new here so excuse if I'm in the wrong forum.

My husband and i have been pre approved for a loan for a HUD home. It has been recommended I take care of a charge off that I (not husband) have. I have called the agency listed on the CR, but they aren't able to locate my account by account number or SS#.
I was told to fax my full name and SS# and the CR page that shows the negative report. With this they would be able to locate my account. Also 21 days until I hear back from them. Is it safe to fax my SS#? Anyway to speed up this process?
Thanks in advance
~Jane

You should NEVER give a CA your SS#.........and definitely not over a fax. That is just WAY too risky, IMO.

They should be able to find you by the acct #.
My advice would be to do a 1 2 punch. That is going to be about the quickest way to take care of it.

Account found, somehow, today without a fax. Curious.

My account has been written/charged off and I will be getting a 1099c.

Would this be documentation to the underwriter about the status of this account?
