Default My credit situation

Ok, so sorda a long post. Trying to figure out what to do next, whether to apply for a credit card to build up scores, etc, as I might try and buy a home soon....I'm a student in college and make about 35k a year right now...

In short, these are the items still on my credit report and scores:

Equifax: Score - 656

Hospital collection account - Now posted as paid because I settled. The hospital is now fighting to have it deleted, but Equifax has been incompetent to say the least, they are now saying that since it was verified through the dispute process as my debt, they can NEVER remove it until it falls off after seven years, which would be 6/2010 (not long but very frustrating)

American Honda finance -Paid off two years ahead of schedule, never late, perfect performance.

Wachovia Car loan: - Only on Equifax still, was seven years old, but they say the last report date was 2005, and wont list last payment date. Very frustrating, says "Bad debt & placed for collection & skip ACCOUNT TRANSFERRED OR SOLD CHARGED OFF ACCOUNT" - Really not sure what to do about this, it was last paid in 2002, and should be gone, as it is already on TU and Experian, but Equifax says last report was 2005? =(

Experian: Score - 667

Hospital Collection account: Mark as paid, should be removed soon per Experian, going through deletion process (same debt as Equifax)

American Honda finance -Paid off two years ahead of schedule, never late, perfect performance.

Transunion - Score: 717

American Honda finance -Paid off two years ahead of schedule, never late, perfect performance.

Ok, so, what now? Should I go after that Equifax car loan from 2002?

Is Equifax correct in saying that verified accounts can never be removed regardless whether the credit asks for it to be deleted?

Also, should I try and get a credit card? Citi jut denied me for their good/average credit card everyone recommended. Is there a credit card company that only checks transunion? Are there any fair/decent cards for people with my credit scores?

Thanks so much for your time guys, you've always been such a big help. I just don't want to make any more mistakes or apply for anything else without being sure.

BIG THANKS, you guys rock!

If you contact the hospital and ask them not to response to the dispute by law they have to remove it.As for a good card in less you have scores of 800 you might not get one,in this economy its being based on 800 plus.
