Default Disputing Credit Reports as Not Mine

Hi,

I'm new here and have read, read, read; not only here, but on many other credit repair forums, as well. I have found this one to have the most knowledgeable (it appears) people who seem very willing to help. With that said, here is my circumstance:

I pulled my 3 credit reports and after reading at another forum to start off disputing each item as "not mine", I started by disputing a derog that was originally an overdrawn checking account from 2001/02 and given I had not heard from OC or any CA's about it, nor made any payments, am positive is out of SOL. It was sold to a JDB (RJM ACQ LLC) who reported the derog to Ex and TU, showing date opened as March of this year. I disputed this online with Ex only as "not mine" (I now know better!) and it came back verified. Within a week, I received the first bill I've ever received since I incurred this debt, from CA.

About a week ago, I sent DV letter to CA, via CMRRR, which they received yesterday. I was wanting to try the 1-2 punch, but I'm unsure if I can with Ex, since I've already disputed the debt as "not mine" and they verified it. If I can still dispute it, now that CA has received my letter, what, if any reason should I give, or am I even going in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Yea, definitely write a dispute letter and try not giving a reason. I'm not a big fan of "not mine". You never have to be dishonest with them. By giving them a reason, you limit yourself. You can't possibly dispute it another way if you've already told them it's not yours. But, it's possible that they don't keep track of that kind of thing. I just think it's best not to give them a reason unless you've tried several disputes first and they're not working.
