Exclamation Capitol One Bad debt/collection Account Reporting AGAIN

I just noticed a problem with an old CapOne account that was written off and sent to collections back in 2005. It has been reporting to Equifax as 'current' since September 2008.

The problem is that they just reported a late payment for July of 2009. Why was this even reporting to begin with? How do I go about fixing this ASAP? This sucks because my last late payment went from 2yrs 7 months ago to 2 months ago.

I thought that I had read about this somewhere but can't find the post. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated.

Yikes, that's not good. That's pretty much re-aging the account. You may want to try to explain the situation to the CRAs, but it's hard to say if they will even read it. Either way you should dispute it until it comes off.
