Hello all, First off I would like to thank the owners of the great site. I have only been here a few days now but the information I have obtained during my time here is so valuable. My wife and I were thinking of moving off the Gulf Coast in a few years so we decided to pull our reports to see where we stood. We both knew we had sub-prime scores across the board so it was not to shocking when we saw them all. During my reading and search time on the boards I find myself lost in all the information that is obtained here, and I was hoping I could ask a few questions. Let me start off by what I have done so far. This past weekend is when we pulled the reports from the big 3. 1. I went over mine and the wives reports and highlighted all the baddies. 2. I typed up my first letters to the CRA’s to get all my non-current personal information removed seeing they do not need it and I read somewhere that if it is not linked or cannot be verified it was the best thing to do before starting TL disputes ( I hope that was the best thing to do first). 3. I typed up a few DV letters for the CA’s in case they come back verified. (sitting on these at the moment). So I guess I just need a small nudge into the next move. Do I wait for the personal information disputes to finish or do I go ahead and start my TL disputes with the CRA’s at this time? By negative items on Ex is : Arrow Fin Serv - for a collection dated 07/08 (also the last report date) Capital One - Charge Off for $691 written off but states only $611 was past due last reported 07/09 HSBC – Charge off of $185 last reported 11/07 Then lastly there is: Portfolio Recovery - that appears to be the CA for the above HSBC negative. But states a balance of $203 last report 07-09 All of the above are on all three CRA’s Would someone be willing to offer some advise on my next move. I have read over the posts but still feel lost and a little over my head. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Zerki |

I was reading that someone said they dispute oldest to newest. Try reading up on the 1-2 punch! So far it seems to be working pretty good for me. I am still new at this too but I was overflowing with questions because of information overload! Always dispute throught the mail! It definitly works better! |

I found it to be much easier and faster to just dispute old addresses, phone numbers, etc. over the phone. They take them right off (except EX if its tied to a TL then it stays)

I guess I will wait till I hear back from the personal disputes before moving on. Seeing I mailed them out before reading about just taking care of them via the phone. In the mean time I will get letters ready to each CRA to start my 1st round of TL disputes. I am not going to send anything as "not mine" but is there a reason better than an other to put on there to get it checked or do I even have to provide a reason for them to verify it is mine? |
