Default Need guidance? Help!

so i have a deliquent bill that was charge-off to a collection agency. in feb, i received a "settlement offer" that gave me a lower amount to pay before a certain date.

unbeknowingly, i paid it via my bill-pay from my checking account. but it wasn't until later thru sources that i should have negogiate the terms such as pay to delete with the collection agency. however, my dilemma is that the collection agency is still calling me for the funds, because apparently, i've sent the check to CITIBANK, as stated on the letter, so it's quite possible that they didn't receive it?

so my question is what can i do now? is it too late to ask for pay to delete?

it never hurts to try. you could send a goodwill letter letting them know you made good on the debt and would like to ask that it be removed. unfortunately your chances now of removal are not likely. sorry

If Citibank received the payment (I'm assuming is the OC), then the CA never got word the account has been paid probably. I would send Citibank a goodwill letter as stated by CreditCrisis ... hey it won't hurt to try! You can also dispute with the CRA stating that you have already paid the OC for ths (showing documentation) and they will maybe delete the CA that way. I'm not def on this, however this could work as well. Let us know what happens with it!
