Came across this thread while Googling Americredit Charge-offs and deletions. I'm curious if they did in fact take the negative report off your CR after cashing that check? I'm considering doing something along the same lines to close off an acct that's at $6k from a car that was repo'd and sold. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!! |

MagGal, I'm glad you found us. There are many other ways to get accounts removed as well. Stick around and read as much as you can. Stay persistent and you will eventually get it removed one way or another!

I read this thread and I am also wondering if the $500 took care of the debt. My husband had a car from Americredit for about a year, before they repo'd it. That was way before we even got married. We have tried a couple times to pay, $100 a month, but then they stopped notifying us and we didn't have the address to send it to anymore. We just got a call from NCO today saying that we had to pay a minimum of 241 a month or 8K to get it resolved or they would take further steps. They talked in circles a lot (which doesn't surprise me). I want to know if we send something to Americredit, like the letter posted earlier, if that will take care of it. I really don't care if it even stays on my report right now. I just want them to stop calling. I know eventually, it should fall off. We got house and car loans with the repo on our credit, I just don't want the threats.

Hello, New here and came across this site becuase i too have a voluntary repo with amercredit. Credit report showing currnt status as: Charge off and a Balance of $ 13346 which is the deficiency amount after they sold the car. It also reflects this amount as "past due". I let it go in November 2010, and i just ran my credit report is March 2011 and that is what it shows. They will only settle for around $10,000 but to do so i'd have to pay that in a year. Other than that, they won't do anything else. not sure if it's too early to try a pay for delelte letter and send in a settlement check...or it would be better to wait for it to be sent to collections and try to settle with them at a lower amount. I would like to get my credit back on track, and not sure the best route to go in regards to this item. any suggestions for the best way to handle this item? I also want to buy a house in about 2 years or so, and i believe any unpaid items like this have to be paid? Wondering what happened with the member who sent them the pay to delete and if they removed it or not? Also want to know how long she waited to send that letter? Like how much time passed from when she gave up the car to when she sent them the letter. Thanks! any suggestions would be apreciated! |
