Default Equifax Response took over 30 days. What can I do?

Hi Everyone!

I have a USPS Delivery Confirmation Receipt that shows my dispute was delivered April 23, 2009 at 5:01p.

The dispute results letter from Equifax is dated May 26, 2009 and didn't arrive until May 30, 2009.

This dispute was not done with a free credit report so they shouldnt have 45 days.

Is it too late to demand that the disputed items be deleted b/c it took longer than 30 days? What should I do?

No, it's not too late.
File an FTC complaint stating they did not complete the investigation within 30 days. I think some people have trouble printing a copy of their complaint..........so just to be safe, when you are "reviewing" your complaint (before you hit submit), print out a copy right there. You will at least need to have the complaint number on the report.
Then take the copy of your complaint and send it to the CRAs stating that you are demanding deletion since they did not do the investigation in a timely manner as required by the FCRA. Be sure to stress that you are not re-disputing.

Thank you, Trish! This wasn't online though. I got a response mailed to me, if it makes a difference.

No, it doesn't make a difference how you dispute it. If it's with a regular report, it should only take 30 days no matter what.

lol......sorry. Tried to warn ya. :p
You should get a confirmation email. Just print out a copy of that (it should have the complaint # in the email) and send with your letter to the CRA. That should work ok too.
