I have a collection account that is reported to Experian and Equifax as "Past Due" One has a "Terms" of 1 month and the other has a "High Balance" of the balance due. One account type is listed as "Unknown" while the other is "Open." Are collection accounts supposed to be listed like this? I don't believe they are, and if so what sort of letter should I send? I was getting ready to send a PFD but after seeing that I'm not sure what to do. I haven't sent anything yet.

A collection acct should not read "past due" or "terms: 1 month" unless you have made some sort of agreement or payment arrangement with them. I would do a 1 2 punch first and see what happens. Just be sure and keep a good papertrail. If they are going to violate once, chances are they will violate more. So just keep track. |
