Hi! I am a newbie here interested in improving my credit score. I recently pulled my credit report and pretty much see what I have to do. My issue is my payment history. I had a car loan that matured in Jan 2009. At that time, it was 60 days past due. I had a balance on the loan from deferrements and fees at the date of the maturity. I called the company and worked out an agreement to pay off the balance and will be done on May 30th. The issue is that they have continued to report to credit bureau and the acct now shows as 90-120 days late! Can they do this? Is there any way to get the 90-120 removed? It matters because I am trying to buy a home but the program that I am going through will make me wait 12 months since my last 60 day late mark! Please help! Unfortunately, I believe they can since "technically" you're still behind.......and basically playing catch up. You should try calling them and asking if they will consider removing the late notations. Keep in mind if you just speak to a regular CSR, they may not have the power to change this and will just automatically tell you no. If so.....ask to speak to a manager/supervisor......if they still say no, ask to speak to someone with the authority to change it (because there is someone that can). If you still have no luck, try writing a gw letter. |
