TransUnion stall letter

I just thought i would share this stall letter from TransUnion with you guys and knowing what i know now its quite funny :-) had i not found this site i would have surely fell for it.


Thank you for contacting TransUnion. Our goal is to maintain complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports. We have provided the information below in response to your request.

Re: Dispute Request - Proof of current mailing address

We have received your request and are the process of investigating the information which you have disputed. However, the current mailing address you provided is not listed in our records. In order to notify you of our investigation results at the current mailing address you provided, proof is required.


then it goes on to say what is acceptable proof. Now if i was unaware about there tactics i would have sent proof but now knowing the send out "stall letters" i know they will get the proof after 30 days :-). Funny they want proof of my current address so they can make sure i receive my results but they sent this letter to my current address :-)

How many times have you disputed with TU before (with your current address)?

this is the first time i have ever disputed with a letter i use to go online

well you could ignore it, but maybe they wont send the info after 30 days? i've thought about ignoring alos because i'm going through the same thing. but can they just use this as their way of not having to validate your dispute? they have the current address because the letter you sent them.

And when you disputed online, you lived at the same address?

Yes I'm going to ignore it no matter what. i will wait until after the 30days is up to send them anything. I can wait and if they don't send results after 30 days oh well it will just take a little longer to get results. the one thing I've learned here is to be patient and it will pay off in the end. I don't want to help them out in any way.

Did anyone figure out if it was a stall tactic from TU?

I just got a proof of address was unacceptable letter. But it did send them a copy of my DL. But they say they need 2 items?

Should I wait the 30 days or not?

How do I know they have started looking into it....the only gave me a file number but they did not say they are looking into it.
