Default My Credit Repair Journal

I figured that instead of always posting different questions, I'd just start a journal and maybe my journey will help someone else find the same success I'm hoping to find!

I'm working on sending out goodwill letters today for late payments. I'm sending out three in my husbands name. The one to Target National Bank, I'm asking them to take off the late payments and the chargeoff/collections because it never went to collections and then I asked them to consider reopening the TL... Do you think I'll have success with it?

The other one is for his truck payment that has only 3 30 day lates from June, July and August of last year... I know they are about to be a year old, but I just want them off! Then I am sending one for 1 30 day late for his student loan... so we'll see what happens!

Sounds like you got a plan of attack and starting your journey good luck and keep asking questions because you still will need advice and support!

Question already

I have a sample Non PP letter.... I would like to send them to the companies that I don't even remember applying for credit through or having anything to do with... Will it backfire on me if it comes up that I did apply for credit and just don't remember it?

Also, here is the sample letter, I'm a bit uncomfortable having the part about lawsuits in there.... How could I change it?

GEMB/Wal Mart
PO Box 981400
El Paso, TX 79998

To Whom It May Concern:

I have noticed that you have placed an inquiry on my TransUnion credit file dated 11/12/2008. As you probably know, Credit Reporting Agencies treat inquiries as a statement of fact and will not allow a consumer to dispute them. Since it is against federal law (Fair Credit Reporting Act -- 15 USC 1681b) for an entity to view a consumer’s credit report without a "permissible purpose," I am writing to inquire as to your alleged purpose, for doing so since I did not apply for employment with your organization nor did I request credit from your organization.

Based on the evidence in my possession, this inquiry was performed under false pretenses as described in the clear language of the law. 15 USC 1681n(a)(1)(B ) states, in part, "in the case of liability of a natural person for obtaining a consumer report under false pretenses or knowingly without a permissible purpose, actual damages sustained by the consumer as a result of the failure or $1,000, whichever is greater;"

You are civilly liable to me in the amount of $1,000.00 for your willful violation of the law -- performing a "hard inquiry" on my TransUnion file without my permission. I do hope that we can settle this matter amicably. You can remove the inquiry within one (1) business day of the receipt of this notice. Or, we can meet in court where you will end up removing the inquiry, paying me the civil liability fine, punitive damages for my score drop, plus court and attorney fees. The choice is up to you.

Please contact me immediately at the address listed below.

Sincerely,

Consumer

I would leave out the part about the fine in your first letter to them, nor would i tell them we can meet in court,I would instead say they for some reason they had made a mistake in submitting an inquiry on your credit report.Because you can always drop the hammer on them.Never threaten to sue in your first letter. The letter sounds good to me.

I am getting ready to send 7 out, 3 for my report and 4 for my husbands!

I am also sending out 3 goodwills and I am going to continue working on a few more today.

I called the bank that we have our car loan through. Both my husband and I applied for a car loan, and got it, but yet it was only showing up on my husbands CR.. Well the bank made a mistake and the loan officer is going to be putting it on my reports by the end of today! I'm excited. I know it will momentarily drop my credit score, but in the long run it will help it.. How much of a drop do you think I'll see?

Thank you! My husband just left with the first round of Non PP letters and the goodwills... I'm going to write a goodwill letter to my student loan bank and then also send an email and see what response I get. I know people say it is hard to get a student loan to get corrected for lates, but I'm going to try!
