Default GWing lates?

I am starting to think that instead of constantly disputing accounts as no knowledge I should start good willing these companies to see if they would correct the lates...

What is ya'lls opinion?

Also, when my report is pulled for an inquary, how far back does it show?

I really need to start fixing all of this so that hopefully by this time next year we can apply for a house loan!

GW letters work for a lot of people. You may have more luck by doing this than with disputing. You also may have to write more than one.

As a matter of fact.......I'm sending out 2 gw letters today. I've tried disputing them but not having any luck........and since we will probably have dh's scores pulled in about a month to apply for a mortgage loan......I'm try this as a last resort. Sending them to the CEO's of the company in hopes that I will be able to get some satisfaction.

Inquiries will stay on your CRs for 2 years......but have pretty much little to no impact on score after they are 1 year old.

We went and looked at a house tonight that was GORGEOUS! I would be honored to live in a house that nice... Except that I know with our credit scores we'd never qualify for a loan right now.

So what I'm going to do, I'm going to good will the crap out of these places that are marking our credit negatively.... Maybe just maybe someone will have pity on me...

Do you think it is worth not only sending letters but also sending emails to anyone I can find every day?

I want to see 580 by the end of July.... I'm only 34 pts away so I think I can do it..

Default similar situation on GWing

After several years of denial I am finally getting my act together so that I can buy a house. I'd say all in all I'm not in that bad of shape. I will have paid off $19K to a credit card on May 15th - so that's a huge reason to celebrate!

My post is about this... I have 2 small items on my CR. They are both from utility companies. One is for $99 and the other for $249. I sent the validation letter to both. I have not heard back from the $249 account and they have 8 days remaining (can you hear the clock?). The $99 one I heard back from immediately and they gave me proof of service - afterall, I did have the account and do owe the $99. However, It's gone beyong the SOL, I believe. The problem is... the debt was in Georgia. I moved to Minnesota and then to FL. It's been over 4 years so I believe the SOL is expired. I immediately wrote them and offered 100% payment (it's only $100) in return for completely removing all negative credit history including late payment from my CR. They have reported late pays every month since the debt went into collection just over 4 years ago - yeah even last month!

My concern is they won't do jack - it's only $100 and not worth their trouble. They can't collect on it anymore - but they can still report it as late pay. The Experian report actually says "Write off/collection/late pay" every month.

I need the thing to disappear. I'll pay the measly $100 - but I want the record gone. If I pay it and they don't remove the history it will make my credit score worse because it will show the current month with collection activity ---- WHAT DO I DO?

danelleo, it never hurts to try. Do what you can......hopefully you will find a sympathetic reader. Why don't you go ahead and try the CEO or President of these companies.... they will definitely have some pull.

If you would like, I could even post the letter I used.... as an example. Just let me know.

Is it the utility company that's reporting on your CRs?
I agree with danelleo to keep trying a PFD with them. Have you read this thread?
How To "Pay For Delete"
I think it may be possible to do a PFD w/a restrictive endorsement because REs are honored in Georgia.......and since the company is in GA....your chances would be good.

Trish please do post the letter you used... I'm going to start working tomorrow on emailing CEO's and sending snail mail letters... Maybe, just maybe someone will have pity on me and help me out or get sick of me and do what I want them to just to get me off their back!

Sure.......this is the one I used. I found it and modified to fit my situation.....but it's a pretty good letter and worked for several people that used it.

Re: Acct # xxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Mr. CEO/Pres,

I am writing concerning my experience with HSBC that is both a grateful "thank-you" and a pressing request concerning a tradeline in my credit files that I would like to have revised.

I received my HSBC MasterCard in January of 2002 and took pride in the fact that the fact that all my payments were routinely made in a timely manner. Unfortunately, in the winter of 2008, I had a tragic accident and was in the hospital over Christmas. I am the sole provider for our family and was unable to go to work for over a month. I did use what little vacation and sick time I had to cover our living expenses but needless to say, this left us in an unfavorable position financially. Not only do we have three young children but it was at the hardest time of the year since it was Christmas. Concessions had to be made and regretfully, this led to a late payment on my HSBC account.

The loss of income, even though it was a short period of time was a brutal “wake-up” call for me concerning financial responsibility. Since that incident, I have learned the essential organizational and financial management skills I desperately needed at that point and my payment history from February 2009 reflects that. I wish to thank you for your renewed confidence in me and for giving me a second chance at a positive relationship with HSBC, one that I am determined to keep untarnished.

My wife and I are about to begin the process of purchasing a new home, and it has come to my attention that the late notation from HSBC may prevent me from taking full advantage of the best interest rates available. Since that notation does not reflect my current status with HSBC, I am requesting that you please give me a second chance at a positive credit rating by revising those tradelines. I sincerely hope that there is redemption at HSBC, and I plead for such consideration.

If any additional documentation would assist in reaching a positive outcome please feel free to contact me.

I thank you again for the time you have spent reading this correspondence.

Very hopefully yours,

Your name

Default the 2 utilities bills

There are 2 utility debts:
1) one for $249. I did the validation or verification letter (whichever it is) to the CA and they have about 6 days left... so I'm hoping that in a week or so I can figure out what to do in regards to my dispute not being answered.
2) one for $99. This is NOT with a CA. It's with the OC (I guess that means Original Creditor?) I asked for validation. They immediately replied with proof. Before I learned what a PFD was (oh, it's not a lifejacket?) I basically did what a PFD does... I'll post my letter on here tomorrow. Since I didn't know any better I think I made a mistake... I didn't include a check. I basically asked for a PFD at 100% payment but didn't put the candy in their face. I haven't heard back and its been about 10 days. I think I might try it again with a version of your letter and include the candy this time. They are beyond their SoL so my fear is that they don't do a damn thing because they don't want to go through the trouble of editing the credit report for a measely $100. Although they still report it every month like clockwork.

I'm actually kind of starting to enjoy this stuff... odd, I know. Chasing them is kind of fun.
