I happen to live in the State of Florida and on my CRA reports it states that I can put a security freeze on my credit reports. It basicly say's Quote, "As of July 1 2006 you have a right to place a security freeze on your consumer report, which will prohibit a consumer reporting agency from releasing any information without your express written consent."Unquote. It goes on to say that you need to do it writing to begin the freeze and also in writing to end the freeze. Well you can read the link that I found online pertaining to the Florida law. It seems that there are other States as well. My question would be , has anyone on this site put a freeze on their CRA'S? If so has it been helpful in the credit repair process??? |

Basically a security freeze will stop any new creditors from pulling hard inquiries on your CRs. From what I have learned, if you put a security freeze on your CRs......then anytime you wish to apply for a loan, cc, etc.....you must use the pin number given to you by the CRAs in order to lift the freeze temporarily for the creditor to view your report. Any existing creditors or CAs can still pull your reports. It's good to use if you've been a victim of fraud or ID theft. I don't have any personal experience with this but I honestly don't see how it could help in repairing credit. I've heard that in some cases, people had a hard time pulling their own report with a security freeze. |
