Amen to this one!
I have had great experience with my local credit union
Most recently, I got my car loan through them
Since they are local, they already had arranged for direct financing with the small, used car lot I shopped at
When I find my note, I'll post the terms I received
I found them to be quite favorable, and they did offer the best terms of the 20 local lenders the auto lot regularly dealt with

These financial institutions have grown and expanded their memberships to millions of people. Every day, more people are joining their local credit union. They are discovering that the services as well as the investment are bringing great returns.

I agree; we just signed up with Tropical Fed CU here in FL. They seem to be good.

I also have to agree with this. I have had two credit union accounts, and both of them have been an absolute pleasure to have as my financial institution. They make you feel like more of a "member" and less of a "customer/sucker". I go in, and sometimes have hour long conversations with the services people just trying to understand how I can make the best of the services they have to offer, and they're always willing to answer any questions I have.

I highly recommend trying out your local FCU.

I heard credit unions are not as harsh as banks when it comes to fees. I have Bank of America, and I've recently accidentally overdrew my bank account with two transactions on my debit card (a total of $2.53) I now have two overdraft fee of $35 dollars, which means I have to pay $72 something dollars for a piece of candy. I know it's my fault, etc. It's only my second time in two years, I'm living paycheck to paycheck, poor student on minimum wage, give me a break. And that Keep the Change crap from Bank of America really threw me off. I can't do overdraft protection since my checking account was opened in another state (which is only few minutes away... I live right on the border of two States and I've recently moved). I don't know anything about credit unions. How do you get into one? Where can you find credit unions?
