The CRAs have no real way of knowing that your dispute was triggred by either a free report or 3-in1 report. If you were to check all 3 of your Credit reports on a website like www.annualcreditreport.com, there would be a link that you can use in order to dispute, then they would know that they have 45 days to complete an investigation. It is much more effective to write letters to them than to dispute online.

So just send them letters when disputing and you should be fine.

If you get a free report and you use that report number when disputing........they will take 45 days.

I have also read that ANY disputes in the future that stemmed from that free report will also take 45 days. Not sure if that is true because I've never done it myself. If so, that's a load of BS, IMO........but just in case it is true......beware.

ETA: If you do get a free report.........just dispute without a number. That has worked for me in the past.
