Default Portfolio Recovery Associates

So for the last couple of months, I've been trying to request a pay for delete for a $380 balance portfolio recovery associates owns.

They will not budge. They said they will not update any trend related bla bla bla, the will only update the status as paid in full, which does me no good as it will sit on my credit report for another several years.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

How old is the debt?

I would request a DV and dispute it with the CRAs. Definitely do NOT pay it. They are being pricks - don't do business with them. You're not obligated to.

oh man...i've had a tough time with these guys too! after a validation, all they say is "we bought it from a company that we can only assume has verified the debt before sold" or some BS. I also got something from HSBC saying that the account they reported 6 times as all different accounts on my credit would be removed, so i sent the letter to them cause they bought one of the accounts and they haven't replied
