Ok, I wanted to apply for bestbuy reward zone card online but mistakenly applied for the mastercard reward zone membership card. After I got the credit card in the mail, I called bestbuy to cancel the card. The lady who issued the card insisted that I should keep the card for at least 6 months so that it will look good on my credit report. I was confused. What should I do. Wait for six months or cancel it now? I know for sure that I won't be using the card. Help. Also, what is the best way to get late payments from 2 years ago off my credit report? If I have to dispute it, do I claim that I have no idea about the missed payments or wot do I say in the letter. |

Yes, you should just put the card away.........however with some cards, if you don't use it (at least once), it won't show up on your report. So at least buy something small with it every once in a while to show that it's active.........and then pay it off immediately. That will look better on your CR than a card that has never been used. |
