Default What should I do first?

New to the Fourm. I am so glad there is a place like this I can go for advice and learn.

My question is my son is a lll (third) and my husband is a JR. Collections that are showing on my husband credit are being put on my 20 yr old sons credit report.

My son disputed this online to the CPA and it came back as being valid collection. He has also requested that the lll be added to his credit report. I do know his employer is showing his name with out the lll

These collections are actually mine, I had add my husband on so he could use the card if need be. I do not know if it matters, but he never signed anything agreeing to the card nor did he give his social security number.

Q. 1. Can I have these collections removed from my husbands credit since it is orginially mine?

2. I need to get these collections that or showing as my husband's off my sons credit report.

3. What do I do first, send letters to the collectors to validate that this is my sons debt OR.. to the CRA to give us proof that this is my sons debt?

Thank you

1. did he have his own card,or was he just authorised to use it.have him dispute with the cra's as not mine i was not au to use this card 2.Have your son dispute them by sending his ssn to the cra's and disputing as not mime.3.remember they have to give information that is 100% accurate if it's not your son's dispute with the cra with his ssn.If it's not his then the ca can't verify to that ssn as owing the debt.If they do just send them a letter telling them where to send the money.

jjgross, thank you for responding to my questions.

1. The Creditor sent my husband a card in his name, but he was not the one approved for the card I was and I reqested that he be added as an authorized user. So can it still be removed from his cr since it was not his credit that was used to get the card???

2. Before coming to this site I put together a letter. I have not sent it yet, I wondering if I am giving to much info. Full name, date of birth, social security... and mentioning that he does not know if this is his fathers debt or not, but that it is not his.

3. My son did dispute this with the cra, they e-mailed him back saying the debt had been verified as his. HOW, it may be the same address, but certainly not the same ss# or dob. So, it looks to me like they glanced over it and did not really do their job. And of course if you look at the signatures you can definitly tell the difference. He was 17 when they CR shows the obligation being made.

So, from what I have read,, we need to first:
1. send a letter to the collector requestion verification that it is his. Requesting, signatures, SS# ....contrat. (what if they send what they have and of course it is not my sons. At this time do I show the difference in signatures and ss# to the CPA or CA or continue to dispute it with them.)

2. About a week later send a letter to the CRA, requesting them to send us verification that this is his debt... show us proof that it is his ss#, DOB, Signature... Telling them that there are 2 people at the same address with the same name. But not verifiing that it is the other persons debt, but knowing it is not my sons.

I guess what I am asking is should I give the collection agency all this information or make them show it to us in writing.

Also, would this be a good time to dispute my husbands as well or should I do that at a later date?

Thank you
Dee60

3.Ask for a complete and through audit of the account,if he was 17 he's not responisble for the debt.dont give the ca to much info ask them to prove or remove to that ss#you don;t need to tell them theres two people with the same name just ss# if it doesn't match it's not his account.
