Default NCO Issue

I'm hoping there's something I can do. I have one more negative thing I need to get off my Transunion report. I moved from MA to Az in 2006. I'm not exactly sure what happened but Western Mass. Elect. Co sent my final bill and it ended up going to NCO collections. I paid them last year or so, not knowing at that point about PFD. It was showing unpaid and I had paid, so disputed it. It now shows paid. I got a letter from someone in the legal dept today saying that it had been updated as paid and would remain on my report.

Any other advice on how I can get it off? I'm gonna try to call the OC again tomorrow.

Thanks!
Karen

One plan is called a goodwill later saying because of this i'm unable to finance a new car and to please remove it,Did you ever receive the bill in question, another thing find any error on it to dispute address, name spelling, wrong phone number, nco has number of problems so be a pest.

Karen,

Obviously, you should have disputed it differently. You shouldn't have told them to update it, you should have told them to remove it. Always request exactly what you want.

By asking them to update it as paid, you pretty much verified that it was yours. If you would have asked them to remove it, they would see that it was paid and probably just remove it since there is no logical reason to keep it on.

You can try again, but it won't be as easy. Just keep sending them and NCO letters asking them to remove it.

The past is the past...so learn from your mistakes. But I think you should just keep asking them for removal.
