Default Which do I do first

Do I send to the big 3 first or do I send to the creditor's first to find out validation and such. I'm just wondering which one I send to first to get information removed from my credit report.

Request verification of the bad items on your credit files first.

It's called the 1-2 punch strategy - a combination of validation AND dispute. Start by sending a validation request to the debt collector, as Scorch mentioned. The debt collector will not be allowed to continue collection activities, including verifying the debt with CRAs, until it meets your validation request. Wait about 1 week, then dispute the collection with the CRA. Since the debt collector can't report the collection, they are also unable to verify the account with the CRA within the alloted 30 day dispute period.

is there a way that it might be put back onto the credit report after that, If the CRA removes it since it can't be verified?

I can answer that by saying this rarely happens and they can do this legally.

There is no charge for reinvestigation and if you don’t get the results you want, dispute the listing again.

Okay so I have sent out my validation letters to all my creditors however, I didn't send them any special way besides dropping them in the mail box, is that okay or should I of sent them certified mail or something. I have not sent the ones to the big 3 yet but I will be doing that at the end of this week.

Some things are on all 3 credit reports, If one removes it and the others do not what do I do about that and since they removed it from one how can you get it removed from the others?

Have you been in contact with your creditors lately to see if everything went smoothly? Next time, I would send them certified mail.

I'm new here, been reading a lot and opted out so far with your supplied link. I have a long list of excellent credit history, 7 timely mortgages and 3 credit cards with below 35% balance. The problem is I have a $229 joint paid medical collection 2 years old and 12 inquires in the last 2 years keeping me permenently below 700. Once the bill hit the collection agency, I immediately paid it, thinking a paid collection was better than an unpaid collection. Had I been privy to the info on this site, I could have written a pay to delete letter, but its too late now.

I really knew nothing until the last couple weeks as far as correctly disputing and validating. I did dispute it through the agencies with a half arse letter I made up just hoping they would not get any info back from the creditor and have to delete it. No such luck, it was verified as paid. I also called Ann Arbor Credit Bureau and asked if I could get it off as it was an ex's neglect that led to the problem. Their answer was that my paying was admitting to responsibility. I probably did more damage than good. Now I see that I have a good chance at getting the ding off my report and am willing to put in the time and effort. Can you help??? What's my next step?? I see mis spelled variations on my name, can that hurt?

Thanks in advance and looking forward towards getting this cleared up
John

One thing to remember they can do anything they want I would dispute it as not mine.just because you were married to her make it your's.I mean you could say you told your ex,out of the goodness of your heart that you would pay it for her.Remember don't trust anything a ca say's.And don't trust the cra's,to do anything to help you.

Default jjgross thanks

I didn't know how personal I wanted to get in the post, but the bill was for one of our children. I pay the insurance and a lot of the out of pocket but our agreement was for her to pay this bill as her portion, therefore, I stubbornly dragged my feet thinking it was her responsibility and she was going to pay it. I'm guessing at some point I probably admitted to the collection company on a phone conversation that it was my joint responsibility legally but her responsibility morally and probably the best I did was to ask them to please take the ding off my report.
