I'm new here, I have been looking at the website for about 2 weeks now but just now registered to post on the forums. The website has a lot of information that is very helpful and very nice to know now. Thank you for helping me this far. My problem is I have a lot of things on my credit report which are charged off and it is hurting my rating. Unlike other people here my credit report not only affects my interest rates like everyone but it also affects my security clearance. Therefore I'm going to ask if someone can make a todo list for me. I don't comperhand things without pretty much being spoon fed for them to make sense to me. I did the part where I got all 3 credit reports and Opt out for 5 years. Now I don't know where to go with my next part of the repair process. I am suppose to look for incorrect information on my credit reports and get them fixed but not sure if there is a letter I'm suppose to use to be able to do that. I am suppose to get old addresses off my credit report and such but I don't understand how that helps get other things off my credit report. I also have a question about SOL. the SOL does that count for the place you are now or is it based upon residence status or what. I'm in Germany but a resident of South Carolina. I'm not sure how that works for me. I pretty much need to be told information to be able to help me out. If someone would be willing to give me a step by step and walk me through the process it would be very helpful and I promise to keep you updated on what is happening as it would be not only my own success story but yours as well. Again thank you for this site and also for everyone who writes here to help out the people like me that don't understand I know what I'm asking is a lot of work but it would be very much appreciated. |

Hello. I am a little new here and have never had a charge off, but I will help as much as I can. In order to attemt to and possibly get negative items removed, you will need to dispute them. A widely reccomended way to dispute items is to write letters to the big 3. Sample dispute letters can be found Here In reference to your question regarding the removal of old addresses, let's say tou incurred a debt wile living in Minnesota. After moving to South Carolina and updating to your new address with the big 3, you get your old addresses, names and phone number removed. So when you dispute the old debt from Minnesota, it may be harder for them to match you up with the debt, so I think that is why it is a good idea to remove them. ( I could be wrong though ) They serve no positive purpose anyhow. A creditor may see you as a risk if you move a lot. In reference to your question regarding the SoL, I wish I knew more about it since you are currently living outside the U.S. I think they can chose between the state where you signed the contract and the state you currently live in. Cheers. |
