What is the best way to dispute incorrect information on your credit report?
On-line or thru the mail?

While online is more convenient, it is definitely best to go thru the mail.

When disputing thru the mail - should I send a copy of the part of the credit report that I am disputing or can I just give account Number of the item that I want to dispute? I really do not want to give too much info. I will send a dispute letter with the info. This is my first time disputing and I do not want to make a mistake.
thanks

Just the name of the creditor and account number are fine. You can even get away with giving them the last 4 digits of the account number.

Here is a relevent question.

Chane, on the main site you have the CRAs' addreesses listed like so:

Equifax
P. O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241

TransUnion
P. O.Box 1000
Chester,PA 19022

Experian
2220Ritchey
SantaAna, CA 92705

however on the hard copies of my CR's, they have different addresses listed to send dispute letters. Are the addresses you've listed current and correct? If so, why are the addresses on my CR's different than the ones you present?

They give different addresses for different parts of the US. But, if you send one in to the wrong place, they simply forward it to the other place. It's no big deal. Either address will work.
